Cambridge Peer Study

Cambridge Peer Study

Posted by Keith Melancon on 1/10/2020

Dear Parents,

The 8th grade Cambridge Pre-AICE American History and Algebra/Geometry Honors department has restarted peer study for the 2022-2023 school year. Flyers concerning this program were sent home on Tuesday, October 4th. Please be advised this program will run only on Wednesdays from 4:00 - 5:00p.m. This platform will allow students additional time to work with their peers, ask questions, comprehend concepts, and learn new study techniques in order to increase their understanding of all core subject areas.

Peer study will continue uninterrupted every week with the exception of Early Release Days. There will be no peer study on these days due to after school meetings and trainings for faculty. It is the student/parent’s responsibility to check with the instructors to learn whether a particular tutoring session has been cancelled. The instructors will also make an announcement to the student body if a cancellation does become necessary.

All the school rules will be applicable during the study session. Furthermore, in the case of repeated violations of those rules, North Marion Middle School reserves the right to suspend any student from the study session. Please understand that Peer study is not extended day, therefore any student that is not studying or completing work during this period will be asked not to attend.

Students must be picked up by the parent/guardian by 5:00 pm without exception. All students will be released to the bus loop upon dismissal. Those who are picked up after 5:00 pm may be removed from future study sessions.

Tutoring is free of charge and a privilege open to all Cambridge students and will be provided on a first come first serve basis. Peer study is not mandatory.

The Instructors reserve the right to cancel the study sessions and make changes to the format of the peer study at any time. Students will not be admitted to the study session without a parent/guardian’s signature and contact information on the physical paper that was handed out to students. Please return the form to Mr. Melancon at North Marion Middle School. If you have any questions or need additional information I can be contacted at 671-6035 ext. 56356 or [email protected].
